Claudia Lyra is the founder and artistic director of BRAPA – Brazilian Portuguese and Arts in San Diego. A native of Brazil, she blends language, music, storytelling, and Capoeira to share Brazilian culture and promote joyful, arts-integrated learning. Claudia holds degrees in Psychology and Dual Language Education and is pursuing a PhD in Linguistics. She develops programs for schools, libraries, and organizations, including the Center for World Music and Arts Education Connection SD. Her Do RE TREE program brings Brazilian arts and environmental awareness to K–8 students and families across San Diego. The project will appear at several libraries in Spring/Summer 2025. “Midday Music” is a free, lunchtime concert series held in collaboration with the San Diego Public Library, taking place on select Fridays throughout the year in the Shiley Special Events Suite on the top floor of the Central Library @ Joan Λ Irwin Jacobs Common, where concertgoers are invited to bring their lunch and enjoy carefully curated chamber music along with gorgeous views of the city. This brand-new series and partnership is dedicated to the memory of James R. Dawe, a longtime arts advocate in San Diego and supporter of public libraries.
FREE event, no RSVP is necessary
