Jing Yan Bowcott, violin

A native of China, violinist Jing Yan Bowcott studied at Beijing’s Central Conservatory of Music, London’s Royal Academy of Music, and Indiana University. She has been a member of the San Diego Symphony since 2006.

At the heart of Jing’s musical life is chamber music and the connection it creates between musicians and audiences. She enjoys the collaboration, conversation, and shared experience of making music together, and loves exploring a wide variety of musical styles, from classical and contemporary works to music influenced by different cultures and traditions. She has performed with Art of Elan, La Jolla Music Festival, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s MusicNOW series, and numerous chamber ensembles and festivals.

That same sense of connection shapes Jing’s life beyond music. An enthusiastic traveler and devoted foodie, she loves discovering different cultures through their people, traditions, and food. Whether sharing music, exploring a new city, or gathering around a table, Jing believes some of life’s most meaningful experiences come from connecting with others.
